Details

Providing an illuminant with genuine goose feathers is probably something only the most creative minds would do. Ingo Maurer had such a flash of inspiration when designing the Lucellino and thereby created a wall light in 1992 that is today still one of the most popular pieces by the German designer. The Ingo Maurer Lucellino is often also called light birdy. Thanks to this “ornithological” design, the Lucellino produces a charming lightness that makes it an unparalleled designer light. Lucellino is a play of words consisting of “luce”, the Italian term for light, and “uccellino”, the Italian term for little bird. The special matt illuminant of the Ingo Maurer Lucellino emits its light in all directions and thereby produces atmospheric zone lighting. It can be individually adjusted: the wire arm with the red supply line can be aligned as desired. The Lucellino is supplied including a surface-mounted installation box and a white cover plate. A transformer is integrated in the wall bracket. The version equipped with a slide control additionally allows the brightness to be adapted to one’s personal requirements. The Ingo Maurer Lucellino turns out to be a sure bet for those looking for an original lighting solution. The expressive design of this wall lamp represents a unique highlight in every interior design concept. Furthermore, the Lucellino serves as an effective zone light. As such, it may, for instance, emphasise a painting as shown on one of the images on the left. The moveable light source is also suited to highlight other selected objects like a shelf. If it is not supposed to illuminate a particular object this light creates a pleasant oasis of light around itself that is an enrichment for the ambience in the room.

Ingo Maurer

German industrial designer Ingo Maurer has been lighting up the world since 1963 with the creation of his first company, Design M, later transformed into the name of the creator. Bulb, one of his very first designs, was included in MoMA’s design collection, and in 1989 for the first time, Ingo Maurer created lighting, which was not meant for serial production, for a retrospective of his work at the Cartier Foundation in Paris entitled: Light Chance Reflection. The winged light bulb, Lucellino, is probably one of his best-loved creations, and since the early 1980s, Ingo Maurer has been working with young designers and developers. Transforming light into art like the Karat Blau Suspension is yet another way Ingo Maurer introduces a masterpiece into the home.
